The Association of Campus Journalists, UNIBEN Chapter (ACJ UNIBEN) is the University of Benin's foremost student journalism body — training reporters, publishing original work, and holding power accountable since our founding in 2019.

To build intellectually vibrant and ethically conscious journalists who serve as a beacon of truth and accountability within the University and beyond.
To seek, uphold, and project truth in order to maintain honour, fairness, and integrity across all spheres of campus life.
ACJ UNIBEN's editorial line is set by its Editorial Board alone. No faculty administration, student body, or sponsor directs our coverage. Our editorial decisions are not negotiable.
We verify before we publish. Every factual claim in our work is sourced, checked, and attributed. A correction is a sign of integrity — not a failure.
We cover those who hold power on this campus and in this country — not to antagonise them, but because that is what journalism is for. No institution is off limits.
Every ACJ UNIBEN member receives structured editorial training, workshop opportunities, and mentorship from working journalists in Nigerian media.
Our newsroom reflects the diversity of the university. We actively recruit from all faculties, departments, and backgrounds — journalism belongs to everyone.
We operate under a written code of ethics aligned with the Nigerian Press Council's guidelines and the international standards of the Society of Professional Journalists.
ACJ UNIBEN was founded in 2019 by Ogbeide Precious Princess and Mansa Ayoola Adeleke (RSS). The two founding directors built the association from the ground up — establishing its structure, values, and editorial foundation — and oversaw its operations through to 2021 before the first presidential election was held.
In 2021, Collins Victory Odabi became the first elected President of ACJ UNIBEN, going on to serve three consecutive academic sessions — 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023 — the longest unbroken tenure in the association's history. He handed over to Maureen Owobu in 2024, who made history as ACJ UNIBEN's first female President, serving the 2023/2024 academic session.
Today ACJ UNIBEN is recognised by the National Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) and stands as the benchmark for campus journalism in South-South Nigeria — published consistently, and committed to the work regardless of what that work demands.
